How do you Stop Illegal Laning?

I know its a sensitive subject for most on here but it seams Jersey has developed a small group of irresponsible 4x4 drivers that are ticking off the locals

Now Jersey dose not have a defined RoW system like you guys have in the UK so this group maybe just simple misguided...

However you may ask why do i in particular need to take action? Why not leave it to the police?

I am the owner of a 4x4 owners community and there is reports that this group maybe apart of Jersey4x4 (the community in question)

I don't want Jersey4x4 to be placed in a bad light due to a small group of people... This has happened to another group around 5 years ago and they were forced to close up shop.

Now Jersey is a small island so chances are who ever is responsible will turn up but i want to be viewed to be aticly discouraging this sort of behavior.

state on your page that you only support legal offroading . try to get some good publicity. get your club to do some good in the community, charity runs or something.

Its certainly a constant problem here, generally only a small minority of people that dont give a damn and should be on playdays rather than lanes. It does put extra pressure on those of us who lane responsibly.
I struggle with damage to lanes caused by legitimate laners, particularly big heavy cars with no locking diffs that wheelspin their way out of a mess... ruins the lane, can hardly see where we have been with our difflocks and gentle right foot.

unfortunately we all get tar'd with the same brush, a walker sees a 4x4 on a byway being abused by a t*#t and assumes we all drive like that.

i was up east hertfordshire laning a little while ago with 4 others and we all got stopped by a police officer on a quad bike as we came off the end of a lane onto a surfaced road, he then proceeded to read us all the riot act one by one saying there had been loads of damage caused to the next lane by idiots and that if we were seen to cause a nuisence (by the farmer/landowner) he would take and crush the vehicles no questions asked, took all the reg plates down and names and address of everyone there, wasted an hour of our day!was really an illegal stop as we had done nothing wrong, it was like he was expecting us aswell!drove the lane and it was as smooth as the road no sign of any damage what so ever, so the land owner is blatantly being a d#@* to get the lane closed. needless to say the chief of police was notified at the outrageous accusations being thrown around by his officer and the fact that the officer in question didnt seem to understand the law and was clearly on the side of the land owner.

I think the best course of action is to start a campaign to actively discourage irresponcible use of lanes...

Also I am going to look into it myself as I have now heard words that the people involved are now on the police wanted list....

Maybe a article in your local newspaper to raise awareness of the fact that irresponsible laning WILL result in the lanes being closed thus ruining it for everyone. Maybe offer a "beginers guide to laning course" to show people how to do it properly,as you run a club this could be easily done.

Or get some spies out there to get the reg plates of the offenders and photo evidence then forward the info to the police who have the power to seize the vehicle and have it crushed due to anti social driving.
