Name of the connector(s) for the 98-02 stereo?

I'm contemplating the addition of a modern stereo capable of USB/SDHC playback and I just found out that the connector used by Suzuki is not the usual ISO. From googling around it also appears that 98-02 cars (like mine) have a different connector then later models.

Does anyone know what's the name of the connector(s) used by Suzuki on these earlier models? I want to purchase the adapter locally and need a name of the plug to start asking around for the proper adapter :) (maybe I get lucky and one of the local shops has it)

If you are buying a new head unit they usually come with an adapter lead, think it's called an ISO adapter, hope this helps :) :)

I wish it was the case here :) But the unit I'm set on comes without any adapter.

Thanks but the problem is I'm quite far from the UK, postage would cost more then the adapter. :) I'm looking to do this tomorrow if I luck out with the adapter at the local shops, but I need to know the correct name of the plug.

You could cut the plugs off and use crimp bullet connectors to do away with the plugs all together.

Sure, but that remains the last solution. I don't like the idea of bullet connectors in such application as in time one may come out and cause sparks/shorts and so on.

Still, I refuse to believe that no one knows the name of the connectors used by Suzuki. :)

ラジオコネクター

translated ... Rajiokonekutā :D

You'll find it's proprietary so it probably won't have a name as such.... indeed ISO gets chucked about far too often too, when in reality there's hundred of ISO connectors depending on the fit.

There's a few available through Google shopping though... about £8, but as you say you might be better trying to source one locally :)

Use solder and heat shrink then.

They are called ISO adapters and are readily available on the Internet. Why will delivery be so expensive to you?

I don't see what options you have but to do as I've said or order the correct adapter.

When I was younger and started playing with cars ISO plugs hadn't been invented so we had to work out which wire was which and solder or connect them with some form of connectors.

I cut mine off and fitted an iso plug, if you do this the earth was separate and not part of the original connector but no hassle to adapt in.

OK, I found a connector that fits my Jimny (no easy task, apparently there are 3 different versions 98-02, 02-05 and 2005-> ) and I also bought the ISO plugs already fitted with wires.

Does anyone know the pinout for the 1998-2002 head unit? I couldn't find while googling around.

Thanks a lot :)

I'll dig out the diagram and pop up the colour codes at some point today.
