Could this be old fashioned clutch judder?

Caused by an overheated clutch at some point. Do you ride the clutch in traffic?

My Jimny (08)has had a slight judder for years when it is starting from cold.
After the engine gets warmer and the clutch has been used a few times it disappears.
The clutch isn't worn.
I wasn't bothered about it and was leaving it until the clutch needed replacement but so far it doesn't need it.
Just as a matter of interest how much movement should there be on the transfer box mountings?

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

How do you know if gear box need replacing? I was told by one mechanic it needed doing and another one said it didnt need doing. Its been a year. Is there a way to tell it needs doing?

If it drives normally with no whines and engages gears with no noises it's not the gearbox.
Juddering,as others have said, is usually either the clutch or the rear engine mount.
I had my clutch done recently and the judder that I used to get when the car was cold is now gone.
It is possible that the juddering has now allowed the rear engine mount (gearbox mount) to get worse and is causing your knocking noise on the other post??

Now take this info with a pinch of salt but as you are near here can you not pop along to these people and ask if they can recommend anyone?? I don't think they would do it themselves as they are a Jimny breaker but you never know??

Just read your post, could have missed something, but thought it worth mentioning .....

I'm wondering how high is the bite point is on your clutch pedal ?

if it's high, you may simply need to get it adjusted

let some one else drive the car with you as the passenger - see if it judders, if it doesn't then the current pedal setting is wrong for you

;)

Hi it judders a lot more when someone is in the car with me. Like the load is too heavy so it is quite bad. The biting point is also really high. I think i will need a new clutch probably

It's just clutch judder. It's no biggie. Either live with it or change the clutch.

Or live with it until the clutch is a bit more worn and change it when worn out.

Sometimes it solves its self in time.

I agree clutch judder - either worn or a contaminated clutch.
