New member needs some help please was created by dirtylanes
Hi, This is my first post as only just signed up, I am also new to the Jimny a well as I have
just got a 2006 VVT in a bit of a tatty state and have been going through it. I have found the
rear brake plates have rusted through, I see some of you guys have fitted discs to the rear
and thought someone may have a spare set of brake plates for sale!
Please tell me if I have put this in the wrong place.
Cheers for now

Welcome along mate.

Don't worry, no-one's gonna flame you on here!

The best place to ask would be the For Sale and Wanted Section, so pop onto there and make a post specifically for them.

There are a few people on here that break Jimny's too so I'm sure someone will be able to get you some.

Are they rusted through in the important part that holds the bearing in or the brake cylinders / shoes in place or just the very outer rim?

If it's not on an important part I would be tempted to leave them as any holes will let water and mud out. Water and mud will always find a way in but often not back out again! It all depends how bad they are and where they have rusted.

Thank you for the reply. Yes they have some rust holes in them at the bottom but not near anything
important, but it look a bit ruff! I will take your advice and put it in the wanted section.
Thanks again.
ps A great forum by the way

Welcome to jimny ownership :cheer: :cheer:
If you are replacing the rear backplates you will need rear wheel bearings, seals and retaining collars as well because the backplate is fitted between the hub and bearing. :( :(
