Its got no service history but you can tell its been mechanically well looked after. its done 116000 miles and had just been serviced. its got 7 months MOT but has only done 30 miles since the last MOT. The gearbox has only done around 65000 miles as i had a recondition gearbox put it.

The body work has seen better days as its had lots of small bumps in the past.

it needs a couple of bits doing if your fussy but all in all its a nice, mechanically sound car. the Engine sounds sweet as a nut and it goes perfectly into each gear.

Let me know what ya think

just give the underneath a wire brush off and a coat of hammerite to smarten it up.

are you going to modify it and go offroad?

if you going to offroad it you'll get much bigger dents
start with mud terrain tyres
and then a lift
and then.....................................
so the slippery slope starts :cheer:
have a look at some of the other builds in the my jimny section for ideas
when you are ready to get it muddy there are a couple of good pay and play sites in stoke at Silverdale and Weston Coyney

I was thinking exactly the same to the letter and then read your reply!

You can keep your fuel consumption as it is despite modifying it with a suspension lift and bigger mud terrain tyres - just get a second set of wheels, such as modulars, in a wheel and tyre package from one of the number of online sites that sel them - Bigaz on here and others have them. You can then use those alloys and road tyres for every day use and thus not effect your fuel consumption.

You just need somewhere to store a second set of tyres.

Cheers all. Is there anything i should check for? so i can see if i have a lemon? Other than the usual rust patches and that. The engine sounds and drives great but are there any common faults i can check for?

Rust anywhere underneath, worn radius arm bushes and if you have no death wobble leave the front axle alone! - other than to wire brush it and paint it before that diff pan rusts through!

"boot" floor for rust too? Another trap i've found to be a bit scabby is behind the headlamps.

Yea it is a bit rusty both behind the headlamps and a fairly small patch in the boot
