Have been thinking about this myself. Can someone put a list up of the things you need to fit a 1.6 liana engine in a 2002 dohc jimny?

Done it to mine difference is night and day

the only things i bought when i swapped mine was and oil filter, oil, and the stud/threded part the oil filter screws on to.

Every thing swapped off the 1.3

Rocker cover,dip stick
sump
oil pick up
flywheel clutch
bottom pully
use liana injectors

Those are the main parts,i swapped the alt and power steering brackets over aswell but its supprising how many parts are the same.took me a couple of days on and off obviously it was a few month ago now so may have missed the odd thing.

The jimny should have come from the factory with the 1.6! Well worth the swap.

Also have new inlet and outlet gaskets ready. I also got a new oil pickup pipe and new sump pan which is not that expensive from suzuki.

So basically you just need the 1.6 engine from the liana and everything else you need is already on the current 1.3? Does the ecu need swapping over or will the jimny one adapt itself to the new engine?

are the engine mounts the same?

does the 1.6 mate straight to the jimny gearbox?

Yes

No just the injectors ecu adapts

Use the jimny engine mounts the holes are there on the 1.6 block

Yes again

i bought a full liana for £225 with tax and test ran it for 2 weeks made sure engine was ok then did the swap,i just used the 1.3 manifold gaskets with them been metal, gave the inlet one a smere of sealant.

Scrapped remains of the car got £110 back

sold the cats for £50

ive got someone wanting the 1.3 out the jimny so once thats gone will have only cost me my time

Did mine on the cheap obviously.the engine i put in was on roughly 110,000 from memory and its sweet as a nut impression im getting is the m series is very reliable.

Any year liana will be fine as they are all none are vvt, just use the 1.6 injectors and the ecu can cope with no problems.
Mine seems better on fuel now as you don't need to work the engine as hard.

NOTE jimnys with a 1.3 vvt CAN'T use the liana engine.
