Clutch cable too short

Don’t own a Jimny myself by my brother has an O2 soft top model and was claiming the clutch was getting a bit stiff. Decided I’d order him a new clutch cable and fit one for him considering he knows little about cars and I have a little experience tinkering with my classic mg.
Ordered an official cable from big Jimnys store and began the process. Was pretty simple until I tried connecting the new cable. The internal wire seems to be a good inch too short. The adjuster by the transmition is screwed out all the way but I can only just get the lip of the metal end over the lever and even with forcing the lever arm can not get anough movement to get the cable connected. Even if I could there would be no free play at all. The old cable is the same length but feel the only reason that it just fits is as some of the rubber seals are pretty warn and compressed and the rubber ring inside the pin fitting thing on the clutch pedal end has totally warn away. Combined with a little stretching from wear makes it just long enough.
Any ideas? I tried to adjust the clutch pedal stop bolt but can’t for the life of me get any spanner or anything in the space up behind the pedals. I’m not sure if this would give that much extra cable though as there is only so much the fitting that connects to the pedal can move until it hits the other rubber fitting on the cable....
Any help would be much appreciated
Lewis

Only way I could think of to get any extra cable was to remove the rubber parts completely but thought that probably isn’t advisable...

I paid £27 for the worlds longest clutch cable last week.....fitted snug.

Yeah I don’t think it’s the cable. Picked up a cheap one for the left hand drive vehicles. The cable was another foot longer but the actual play at each end was the same and couldn’t get that to fit either. Thought must be the cable but this one is the same.
If you managed to get one with longer loose cable at each end I’d be interested in where you picked it up! But it seems the two types I’ve found just are longer but keep the same ratio of sleeve to internal cable so doesn’t help...

I doubt it was longer....although I would be willing to measure it as it's here for a while.... I actually welded a visitors lhd Jimny bracket last year.....possibly the one I've linked is the one for that vehicle?Lewberry6 wrote: How would I check this? There are two different ends and this gives you close to 15mm difference in fit
Let me know the VIN number and I can check

Is this it? Only plaque I could find. Believe I ordered the longest version though, the first of the two pics, type 2. At least that’s what was the cable in there previously. I tried another left handed drive clutch cable and although the cable itself was longer the amount of free internal cable was the same.
Believe the missing digit you can’t really see is a 1
Should this be the correct one?

The adjuster is right at the end of the threads. I assumed it was just the clutch had worn out, but after spending a long time changing it for a complete excedy kit, it is exactly the same.
I've no idea how I will adjust for clutch wear, obviously the cable isn't going to stretch now..
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
