Door locks was created by 6903877
I am looking to replace both door locks, as some nasty ba***rd has tried to get in at some point.
How difficult is it to do
Can I get just the one repaired so as only need one key (don't want to have to change the ignition as well)
Is it worth looking to get a complete set from a breaker?
Any help would be great.
Michael.

I suppose it depends on the damage but very often you can dismantle the barrel and refurb a lot of the lock unit. I've had to do this a few times. Sometimes the tumblers were damaged so I just removed them and the lock operated on fewer. One I did I had to repair the little drop flap. What gets me is the damage they do to the door panel and that's a nightmare to correct.

Do it right - use Hammerite
When the blue light is flashing I am kidding.

Ford used to supply a lock kit for doors, essentially a barrel and a set of oversize tumblers and springs, simply assemble the barrel and tumblers, insert your key and file the tumblers to fit, brilliant idea.
Having seen how the kit worked , in the 80s after a toe-rag attack (a very common occurence), it was off to the scrappers to get a spare lock, and as Helijon says, disassemble and swap/file tumblers to make a new lock

Someone smashed the entire lock out on my passenger side last year, when I was out walking, i eventually just got the door delocked for cheaper than what a new lock would cost. Inside pin still goes up and down and door locks on central locking.
My previous Jimny passenger side had also been hacked at with a screw driver. Pretty sh*ite locks on a modern car really.
