Hello!
I have a new Jimny gen 3 DDIS with the Renault K9K 266 engine. Its a 2006 with 155 000 km and without known service history. I have changed the engine oil and break fluid to start with. I realizing that the timing belt might be due but its a very costly operation her in Sweden. Is there any way to check the conditions of the belt? I guess not but no cost to ask.
Cheers

As it's an interference engine, I don't think I'd be taking the chance at that mileage, they are not usually that expensive to change, unless they have done something stupid like BMW did & put it at the back of the engine so it has to come out to change.

Ok. The shop here suggested 1100 £ for belt and water pump.

Exactly! Its not quick work but it feels a bit to high.

Problem is that it might be only one DDIS in Sweden (has never been sold here).

Thinking of driving it to Poland and get it fixed there.

Only one in Norway too. But many k9k in other cars. Did the workshop look at the car? Do they know that it is easier to do the belt on a jimny with the longitudinal engine?
Most likely it is not nescessary to remove the radiator either.
Maybe you should check a Norwegian garage, shorter, no ferry, and nok to sek is in your favour.
Norwegians are nice :) and polish prices have risen.

Buying the belt and pump on Autodoc and going to another shop (not Suzuki) reduced the total price to 600 £. Feel more realistic.

Suzuki parts are extremely expensive in the UK.  Service prices vary here as some jobs are fixed price (I had a clutch job done by a main dealer for £500 a few years ago) and there are often free servicing offers on new cars, but anything not on the standard service menu can be pricey.
