hi i know vac hubs are operated by air vacum and people dont rate them but how do they work in the hub whats in there is it plastic parts / metal or what only asking as mine failed the other night in all that snow and going to have a look this weekend starting with any leaking pipes , but as said before whats in the hub ! and how do you lock them manually , :dry:

if you cant go round it go over it ! or vice versa ?

Metal bits inside.
Sliding centre that slips over the end of the driveshaft and locks the hub.
Just whip one off and push the centre in/out.
Enjoy.

Grey pick up Jimny
Turbo m13a, arbs, floating rear shafts, disc conversion rear, vented front conversion. 245 70 16. Winch, 3" lift, 4:16 trans hd shafts and CVS

Actually it' s pull the centres out, here's the how to guide
I had to do mine when the last snow came and haven't undone them since.

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

Out/in depends how you look at it if it on the car id say it pulls it in on to the shaft but if its in your hand the it is pulled out of the hub

stripped down front hubs today gave them a little clean light oil open and lock them manually by hand a few times put them back onto the car and hey 4x4 working again bring on the snow and that vauxhaul corsa that thought it was clever when my hubs failed last time ! just hope they dont let me down next time :lol:

if you cant go round it go over it ! or vice versa ?

cheers for your replies im going to give the vac hubs 1 more chance if they let me down again will def change to manual hubs , also changed the diff oils and gearbox / transfer box oils today . might change engine oil and filter next week . eh im starting to enjoy this might become a mechanic ! :blush:
