Personally I would buy good quality adjustable panhard rods to get it spot on rather than whatever the brackets are fixed at for the car and lift kit they were designed for to give some more accuracy.

The Panhard rod always needs to be as horizontal as possible. when on a 2-3" suspension lift the angle gets a bit too steep, and this is not fixed with an adjustable rod. This is only to get the wheels under the body again.

I'd imagine if it were that important the specialist suppliers who know about all this stuff would sell brackets as part of their kits and no one seems to have any issues without them, but I suppose to have the ideal would be to have both brackets and adjustable rods!

On a standard Jimny (or any other 4x4 with panhard rods) both rods are completely horizontal. Meaning that Suzuki took the time to mount brackets on the chassis, not just mounted the panhards somewhere directly to the chassis.

Also, if looking a devon4x4.com or difflock.com in their projects forums, you'll see that all the pro builders of buggies, trayback etc. make new brackets for panhards, so they again are horizontal.

So this is the optimal setting.

the panards are supposed to be as level as possable to stop any axle steer as the car lifts and twists

tbh i would not extend the standard panhard rods they are made of very thin steel & bend very easy its best to just make new adjustable rods with some thicker wall tube

found a howto here in the forum and guy actually uses some bits to make then stronger:

www.bigjimny.com/index.php/forum/8-my-ji...s?limit=12&start=240

but thanks for the input, i'm really not decided yet on making or buying

Another question: suppose i leave it standard with 3" lift for a while, what this could cause?

cheers

sorry mate

just worried about worning out my arm to axle bushes too quickly or any other collateral effects

can't really picture the axle steer as described above, i'm new to this. Gonna take the car to a friend who is an engineer and hopefully he will help me out understanding all this. Sorry.

cheers

Don't be sorry.. just stated that it had already been answered :-)

But, if you are worried.. just get the panhard rod extended. If it breaks, get a new one. Shouldn't be hard to find a used.

About that bracket. It's not like it's a fortune or anything.. so why not just get it?

Better safe than sorry :-)
