Roof studs! was created by Monkey
Hi guys,

I took of the factory roof rails the other day, because i think it makes the jimny look much cooler.

But i'm not sure what to do about the studs that use to hold them on. Any idea's on how to take them out?Or how to cover them up so they don't stand out so much.

As you can see it looks much better.

Thanks,

Andy

There's a guy on eBay breaking a Jimny. He's listed a few bits but I'm sure you could ask him to list the bars for you

Ok i pulled the roof lining of to see how they were held on, and as i thought they have been welded on, so i think is would get messy trying to cut them from the inside. The only other way o think of is to cut them right down, center punch the center of the the stud, then get a small dill bit drill though, then go to the size of the stud, then drill it out, them fill the holes with bog or rubber grommets.

Vitara mad- What did you do with your studs?

Just paint the threads black, or body colour, and people won't notice them.
(You will, because you are looking for them.)

Then you or the next owner can refit the roof bars in the future.

(Whenever you "upgrade" always keep the original parts in the loft to refit when you sell the car)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
