Can anyone advise me about using this.

I bought one a long while ago but was never able to use it on my Jimny. I plugged it into the Pinin socket and all I got was a blank screen, all nicely lit up. :(

It should light up when you plug it into your Jimny, does it? What year is the Pinin? is it a diesel?

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

I use this exact one and it works perfectly on my 2002 Jimny and 57 plate Skoda Octavia.

But beware of Chinese rip offs. I bought a MaxiScan MS509 and it worked other than not being able to download data to the PC. Turns out it was a rip off. Maybe you have got unlucky with this one?

They are all Chinese copies now, Autel haven't made the Ms309/MS509 for a few years. The User Manual for the MS309 is here:

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Sent it back but I suspect it might not be duff, it might be the type of socket on the car. Meanwhile paid an arm and a leg to have a diagnostic done and it has pointed to the throttle sensor which I am in the process of replacing, the idle sensor valve which I think is actually adequate and a few other faults to be dealt with later (like at MoT time). I could have bought a genuinely dedicated Mitsubishi code reader for what I paid to have the diagnostic done.

Trouble is I might not have the Painin (see the spelling) much longer so a Mitsy only reader would be wasted when I get a Porsche 922 instead.  Just kidding. I prefer American muscle cars.
