Front end squeel

Front end squeel was created by Casey
Front end started squeeling intermittently (seems worse when cold or wet) so had both belts replaced but hasn't solved the problem.
Have read in other posts that the alternator bearing can make a squeal that sounds like the belt.
Anyway, just thought I'd ask for advice before replacing it.
When the squeal starts I can get rid of it sometimes by switching the ignition off and on again. When it starts making a noise it stops when I put the clutch in. I'm not getting a battery light up and all the electrics seem fine.
Have sourced a second hand alternator for £60 delivered. Is this reasonable and is this likely to be the problem?

Thanks for the super fast response. I'll take your advice and check they're rotating OK. £40 is sounding good so if it's looking like that's the problem I'll take you up on that. Cheers

Wait a minute he did say it stops when he puts the clutch in??
Release bearing??
Check clutch cable adjustment as well before delving in to alternators etc.

Thanks.
I haven't had chance to take any belts off yet, but your suggestion about the clutch would seem to make sense. After all if it was associated with one of the pulley driven bits why would it stop when the clutch is depressed?
How difficult is it to adjust the clutch, if it's the release bearing would adjusting the clutch make a difference?
