I know its all over the forum if using the search button but i have no idea about wiring and the jargon thats used lol B)

So im part of a limited number of people with a soft top and a roof bar :woohoo:
Now with the soft top, whats the best way to run the wiring?

hard tops you can run down the radio aerial route, but i have a folding canvas that will get in the way

Was thinking of drilling a hole and using a grommet and some friendly sealant and then worrying about the wiring inside at another time....

Also what wiring kit will i need, as far as im aware, 2 spot lights are wipacs (12V 55W H3 bulb) and the other 2 are apprantley the same as the wipac spec (12V 55W H3 bulb)

My roof rack is plastic coated then metal underneath this, how do i earth each light to the roof rack if this is needed?

My brother in law says i dont need a relay? but i want to do this properly.... and would like them on a switch..... a 4 way switch would be nice..... 1 setting for the outter lights, 1 setting for all 4 to be on, and one for the middle two, and then off..... is this possible?

Then on to the rear working light - ive heard people running this in with the reverse switch? but wouldnt this mean when i select reverse the mini spotlight will come on?

Sorry for the dumb ass questions, but wiring is not something i enjoy lol....

what effect will the spotlights have on my battery etc?

will get some photos of my light setup....

i think but not 100% sure, the relay is needed if you want them to come on with main beam ;)

wiring to the reverse switch for you rear spot will indeed make it come on when engaging reverse, if its a work light so to speak just wire it to a live source and fit a switch for it then its on when you want.

Another photo.

This is where I get lost!
Wheres a live etc at the rear, I'm sure someone will come along with the words 'multimeter'

Just want simple lol
Not fussed about high beam and all that as It will be on a switch for when I need them, don't want to blind people...

But really what ever is easiest, if it's easier to wire them (somehow) to high beam then it will have to be.....

+1 to this, although I will be doing it to a hardtop soonish. Looking to wire them via a switch so I can either have them work with the high beam or just flip the spots on .. I get lost with wiring and what I need to do (pass me a hammer, adjustable spanner and duct tape and I am fine) :P

The plan is to fit 3 x www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D769WUS/r...00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So please enlighten us with your wisdom folks ... wiring diagrams in crayon are perfectly acceptable ..
