Brake woes was created by helijohn
In particular O/S/R footbrake.
It all started when I came away with an MoT fail ticket because the brake was hardly registering.
Handbrake fine both rear wheels
We expected a seized piston on the slave (or 2 ) but when I removed the drum I found all new kit.
Everything seemed to be working but the automatic adjuster needed taking up. Nowt seized. On the Dyno no different. Barely giving 40 compared to the 150 of the other rear wheel.
Checked that shoes were installed the right way round. Checked against the other rear wheel, everything matched.
Next I bled the brake at the balancer which is the end of the pipeline as it wasn't moving before and some air came out, the balancer started moving - again everything working. On the Dyno just the same in fact the other (N/S) footbrake was slightly up.
So what's next?
Should I swap the drums in case the new drum is not the right one??

Failed on O/S footbrake. I think the result was showing 16% and fail
The handbrake was balanced at around 120 each.
Foot brake N/S 150, O/S 30-40. Same reading on the two later trips, maybe 50 on the third trip.
EDIT. I have bled both rear brakes today.............the heat has killed me..............won't know if the pressure is there until I get on the dyno but I feel it has made no difference.
I tried swapping drums but there seems to be no difference.

Handbrake cable seems OK, 3-4 clicks to operate the handbrake so I assume not stretched. MoT shows handbrake (and thus shoes) working fine.maverick wrote: is the hand-brake cable stretched too far?

I still say slacken off handbrake cable and adjust the rear brake shoes to the drum then readjust the hand brake
That is the correct way to do it i do this on every full service and allways get good feed back from my customers
