Improving Jimny's Engine... was created by fabijimny

Hello! My name is Fabian and I have a small Jimny 1998 car that I really love what I do with many heavy tracks ... With nearly 7 years of use and some adaptations such as lift kit two inches high, extra reduction, tires 235 I realy start to miss an engine a bit more powerful ... Some friends advise me to change the engine for a 1.8 to 2.0 AP, others tell me to put a small turbo on the car and told me that probably will be enough ... I do not really like very drastic transformations and I think that is not necessary for our little "Ninja" but some little "breath" get me out of situations heavier would be very welcome ... Any tips on how to improve the engine performance of Jimny? I'll apreciate the help!

What model engine is in it now?

Im guessing its the g13bb engine at that age?

The vitara engine is a common upgrade and is also on my list to do to make it better on the road

Yes, this is the engine of my Jimny ... It is very hard to find engines Vitara here in Brazil, and maintaining them is expensive too ... This is why we prefer the AP, which are reliable and easily find parts for them. But as I said, I do not like very drastic alterations, rather some other component that would help but I have not demanded much work! I've been told also that a turbo would help ... I'm honestly looking for help in this regard, the Jimny is a car that only in 2010 he returned to Brazil and adaptations to it are not here yet so popular!

I've seen several people mention supercharging their Jimnys but I'm yet to see one that been done.
If you search for Eaton on here there is a few people thinking about it.

are you looking for an increase in HP or more torque?
If you feel the need for more power in the trails, then
the chances are you need more torque, if you need to
make your jimny run faster in the highway, you probably
really need more HP.
If more torque is what you need, you can change your
transfer case with a samurai transfer case with crawler gears.

LOL
Hello!
My Jimny already have X-Crowley, differential locks at the rear (ARB) ...
What I need is more power for climbing very steep, it really gives me a lot of dissatisfaction when they can not climb something with it, even with all the equipment installed ...
Some friends have commented that perhaps a turbo pequano could be enough ...
Because here in Brazil it is not common, I would like to know the views of foreign friends, as the Jimny is a car and gets more popular adaptations outside Brazil than here ... thanks for your help!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationHi and welcome,
I've seen some where that a Mini Cooper Turbo charger fits,This would be very good for more Power.Or what about a small Smart car turbo. Please let us all know what you do.Have you any pictures of your Jimny.

Hi Fabi,

Try to look for the already mentioned Samurai T-Case (already 20% lower than the jimny's) and 4.16 rocklobster that reduces about 25% on high but reduces more on low range (about 80%). I believe that the Jimny's rocklobster reduces only about 24% on both high and low. That's why you're feeling weak for offroad.

Althought (concerning the turbo solution) it would be great if you can pull this off! Looks simplier than a full engine swap! Too bad we don't have the diesel version here in Brazil.

The only thing that looks complicated is to go around the ECU reprogramming. The Korean's seems to have achived thought, at least for the M13A:

For Jimny 1.3L (engine M13A only) Supercharger Tuner Kit incl. Rotrex supercharger, self-contained oil system, aluminum bracket & kit, intake air box cover, sub-pulley, V-belt, Recirc. bypass valve, intake pipes & silicon hoses.

cheers,

Thiago

Hey Thiago this kit seems to be pretty cool. Do you by chance have some idea of values for it? I searched the webpage and they do not have that information there ... I'll send an email to them, but I was quite curious about the prices!
It is amazing how hard to find informations on pipes for the Jimny, already searched on google and every little thing is found.
Did you put in your Jimny turbo too?
Thank you for your help!

People who can help, thank you very much too!
