Only snag with the package was the price at over £400 or £475 fitted but the panel might have been a good option.
I started off high and worked my way down ever since

Some dealers must still have the bits. looks like a ring around job.

1.) the original fascia on a 2005+ double DIN (like mine) has a curved corner hole as below measuring 188mm wide x 103mm deep
2.) the 11-357 Radio Facia for SUZUKI Jimny Fascia Dash Kit Panel Plate Surround Fitting from Hong Kong for £13 simply fits into the original curved fascia (note the curved edges) to create a recess measuring 173mm x 98mm which is the size for 99% of Double DIN car audio head units (such as Pioneer, Alpine, Sony, JVC, Kenwood, Panasonic etc)
3.) Suzuki supply a replacement fascia (73821-76J10-5PK) £40 ish which features a square edged recess that measures 188mm wide x 111mm deep, and when the Pioneer double DIN head unit was available, they supplied a trim panel that took it down to 173 x 98mm.
now I've just measured my single DIN CD/radio at 182mm x 53mm, so it should fit my existing curved edge fascia which is 188mm wide leaving slight gaps at either side but hopefully not leaving a top gap, however that only leaves 103mm - 53mm = 50mm depth to fit a tray (eventually a CB) and typical trays "fronts" measure 188mm by 56mm
but what the hell, I'm going to order one and see what I can do with dremmel :pinch:
will post an update when done :S

Is there a cheaper way to get a modern double din unit in the later Jimny without paying £108 for a new fascia??
Does anyone know if the VW trim panel is anywhere near the Jimny size as it looks very similar with round corners ??
I notice on the new brochure for the latest Jimny the pioneer unit and facia trim(same part number) appears to be available again.
