Thanks for the help I got it sorted today. I cut both the red/blue and the red/white under the dash at the AISIN controller. The wire stubs at the controller can be blanked off. The lights will now be off completely.

I joined the two other ends of red/blue and the red/white together, join to a single wire and run to the transfer 4WD switch (under car). The other wire of the switch goes to earth as you said.

Unfortunately the transfer switch is not two stage so 4LO and 4HI can't be differentiated. I chose to have 4LO light at the same time as 4WD.
For just 4WD, leave red/white out of the join under dash.

Here's some pics for other peoples future reference.

These two wires. Red/blue = 4WD, Red/white = LO. The two wires left dangling on the AISIN control module can be blanked off.

I spliced both together so 4WD and LO both light at the same time even in high. If you don't want LO don't splice in the Red/white but you'll still need to cut it to stop it flashing.
Also in this pic you can see the earth wire running to the steering column bolt/nut. Used a dual wire connector just in case I want to easily disconnect.

I ran dual core so the earth could be in the cab instead of more wires dangling underneath. passed it through the same grommet that the standard transfer wiring loom passed through at the rear of the handbrake.

Finally tidied up the standard wiring loom

Used a waterproof dual wire plug so I can easily disconnect when I need to remove the transfer case

2WD and Neutral

4WD Hi and Lo

When I did the one I did, I didn't touch that lot. Only one of the plugs for the old transfer box underneath. It was a 3x2 block. I linked one pair of terminals on one end but I can't remember which. The 4wd green light worked and so did the VAC hubs

Any further news on this?

Ive just bought a rocklobster from S200KYS and planning to put it in my 2007 VVT. I also want to keep the vac hubs working for now so need any hints anyone has for that?
Would it be a case that operating the lever on the rocklobster will trigger the vac hubs to work once 4-hi or 4-low are selected? i presume this means the new t-box would need connected to the 4WD controller, not just the lights on dashboard?

Thanks
Riccy.

hmm, will have a look and see when it arrives, suspect its more complex on a VVT (everything else seems to be!)

Found this info on one of Martins guides about the vac hubs. I think it might be the answer to keeping them working with the rocklobster (and the dash lights through the 4wd controller, though probs only the 4wd light, not the 4wd-L light):

opinions welcome...

So now some detail on how the whole thing works.
1. Underneath the car, on the side of the Transfer Box is a small switch operated by a ball bearing
inside the Transfer Box. A 12 volt output from 4WD controller is fed along the Blue/Black striped
wire. The 4WD switch shorts this 12 Volts to earth and tells the car that you want to select 4WD, so
it needs to operate the hubs. Handy Get You Going Tip: If your diagnosis is that the switch has
failed then you can short the Blue/Black Striped wire to the car chassis/body. Pull the connector
under the car apart and short the pins together with a bit of wire.
2. If the switch is working properly it has shorted out the 12 volts and the 4WD controller now has
been told to operate the hubs. Under the bonnet are two solenoids that Suzuki call VSV1 and
VSV2. The picture below shows where the Vacuum system is, it’s on the driver’s side at the rear of
the engine compartment, under the battery mount (UK cars).

SOLVED!

managed to figure out how to do it, may be useful for others with issues on a VVT with a rocklobster.

First locate and disconnect the 3 plugs onto the transfer box (there is a 4th for the speedo drive, but not in this picture)

Plug 1 is not needed (is the switch for the 4-LO light i think). On plug 2 use a bit of wire to short out the end two pins (black wire and solid yellow only wire - there are 2 other yellow wires in there so be careful)

On plug 3 use a wire to short to ground via the switch on the new transfer box its the blue wire with a black line on (i think the other wire in there is a ground anyway, so could be used if checked).

Dash now has no flashing 4x4 lights on idle or ignition. selecting 4x4 with the t-box makes the green light come on and makes the vac hubs pull in. Taking it out of 4x4 makes the light go out and the hubs disengage.

Ive yet to fit the rocklobster box but do at least know what to do with the wires!
