Hey! Got my steering damper in the mail today. Tried to mount it as the guide says. But the mount ends up 1mm from the arm, and no room for the damper. From most of the pictures Ive seen, the damper is above the steering arm, not in line. Mine is LHD, but that sould not matter? Could it be that my springs have sagged so much that it is touching? The steering arm is almost vertical..

I'm not sure what I'm seeing in the picture.....are you fitting it to the side opposite the steering box?

Just showing how close it is to the steering bar/rod.
Yes, opposite side :) On the metal pipe hole thingy on the frame. Would be easier if I could flip the mount, but won't be able to use the other plate that it screws in with cause of some mount thingy on the frame.

I'm having trouble visualising the bars mirrored for the lhd but certainly on my rhd there's no way of getting that bracket anywhere near the bars. It just rests up against the back of the round cross member on the inside of the chassis rail well away from anything?

I also have a LHD Jimny and I had the same problem with my steering damper. The one I purchased is the toughdog. It is made in Australia for the RHD Jimny. I am not sure if this is a consistent issue or not with dampers designed for RHD being used on LHD vehicles. I no longer have a picture to show (thanks photobucket) but I took mine to a machine shop and had a weld on bracket fabricated that would move the one end of the damper forward. That eliminated any interference with the linkage.

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left

Same problem with me ('05 LHD). I was supposed to make a new drawing/sketch of this for LHD for jimnybits, but time has passed..
I managed to mount it anyways but not like it's supposed to. Works for me now mounted at an angle and inbetween the frame brackets more forward, but does not look good.

Couldn't find the pictures of it on my phone right now, but i have sent the pictures to Jimnybits.
Not so easy to take good pictures of it as it is mounted now..

I have had it mounted like this for half a year now. See attached lousy picture.

So the damper is ok at that angle? Will have to try that then :) I thought about mounting it further forward on the frame, but was afraid that I would bend the damper arm at that angle.

Wheels not straight on this picture. Works fine.
edit: have not tried it offroad without the stabilizer but works fine as is with 2" trailmaster lift.

edit2: Beware that the supplier probably will not recommend to use it like it's not meant to.
Not sure i would recommend it either as i will not take any repsonsibility for any malfunction due to this.
Could possibly be a problem if it comes loose and hinders the steering when driving.
But as i said, it has worked fine for me..
I got the damper mounted with the bracket to the frame, measured out the center position for the damper, got the wheels straight and mounted other damper bracket to the steering link bar. checked for full movement both ways and for any problems when flexing.
