That sounds cheap!
mine was nearly double that with the labour & VAT.
It was bearings gone in mine (and probably yours also). I would ask them if they have experience of your specific box (R72) before you commit to it, and ask what the likley increase in costs would be if further parts needed.

J999 MNY, ULYSSES M18 VVT with ITB's Dyno tested at 130hp

Pickup/tipper, R7me gearbox & 6.4 Rocklobster, 31" Toyo MT, 2x ARB air locker 3.9 diffs in braced axles, 6" total lift, Floating rear conversion, Raptor painted, CB, Recaro's, Caged, etc, etc...

Thanks, I'll call them tomorrow and check. The gearbox, apart from the problem with first, is very quiet and smooth, could it still be a bearing issue, also if there is even the slightest forward motion it selects first no problem every time, I thought this would be indicative of bad synchro.

See if they will send you an estimate and breakdown via email as we all know what it’s like, when you get there nobody can recall the conversation

Hey Kelky

Completely missed your offer earlier, I'm looking for a VVT as I want to do a bit of towing with it and I reckon the more torquey motor would be a godsend.

Good luck with your gearbox though.

I had mine done by a local gearbox and clutch centre for pretty much a similar price excluding parts. That was the fixed price labour charge, so check if parts are extra, I then supplied my own clutch and gear kit

Hi Caelite . it sold super quick, made me think I might have underpriced it, though I didn't lose on it so all good, the guy who bought it wanted it for hunting. Hope you find a good one

The quote they gave me was for labour and sorting the synchromesh, not that we know for sure if that's the problem, but I asked for the quote to get an idea of price. If I didn't have to do a fair bit of driving in London I wouldn't bother fixing it, but here you use first all the time, they have traffic lights every ten meters with pedestrian crossings in between. It's not car friendly at all, the other day I got a ticket for stopping for 2 seconds to read a sign that said no stopping, or words to that effect. The ticket went in the bin. They also tried to fine me for entering the cc zone 28 seconds before 6pm, didn't pay that either.
