Yep but it doesn't seem to do anything. In the book it says '6' optional extra. I have no idea what it does though. Must do something.

on mine thats where the front fog light switch is (2007 so different dash?). That looks like a different switch to my front fogs tho. the rear has the same on/off buttons (identical), but the front looks to yours and works different to the rear in that it just pushes in for on and out for off. The wire for the front fogs is under the passenger side headlight with a white connector.

Does it light up when pressed or on dash lights? looks like it should?

It looks like it has a led on it but it doesn't light up. I'll go take a look now and see if its for the front fogs.

check the fusebox also as something may have blown.

The only other likely candidates are heated mirrors or heated seats...

When I switch the ignition on, if I press the button the indicators all blink once and the indicator green lights in the dash blink once. If I press it again it does the same thing, If a press it a third time it does the same thing, a forth time and it does nothing.

I have two small alarm sensors so perhaps its to do with an alarm.

I have central locking also, but I think all Jimnys have that.

If its doing nothing after a certain number of presses then its got to be attached to some sort of computer to do that, especially if it does the same thing once the ignition is reset (off/wait/on), therefore the alarm is the most likely thing its connected to. What it does is unknown?! - especially if its an aftermarket alarm. Not all Jims have central locking, what year/model is yours?

maybe if you press it 5 times it ejects the passenger?!

Try leaving windows down doors locked and wave your hand in front of the sensors ;)

"What is this button for" is usually the last known words of Rednecks in the States. ;) I'd be checking all fuses and if one is blown, I wouldn't be sitting in the passenger seat if you again test the button whilst driving, cos it may be an "Ejection Seat". :P

:D

I thought they did? Remote central locking was an option though.

I have one of those!

No idea what it does either as I don't have the keys at the moment.

I suspect that it is the rear fog lights- they are only supposed to work when the headlamps are on.

Don't think that I have ever used them, I imagine the MOT tester presses the switch each year as it doesn't fail on rear fog lights.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
