If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Take off the wiper arms.
Lift the bonnet.
Remove the plastic scuttle with the slots in- held by plastic poppers on the back..
You can see the wiper spindles are held by 2 nuts each, these may be loose= tighten.
Otherwise, there is a way to remove the wiper mechanism by undoing those nuts and the fastenings for the motor, you can then replace the worn parts.
If you meant there is no drive to the wiper, it is because the rod has come un-popped from the ball joint on the wiper arm, pop it back on.
Don't have any pictures I'm afraid, but it should be easy enough to do.

So as guided by facade I whipped off the blades and the cover...
But the bolts weren't loose
the white plastic guide for the spindle was totally worn away on one side....
So I undid the bolts dropped it back into the space spun the plastic 180 degrees...and put it all back together again... now all working !! The wear is now not under pressure from the wipers so all working well now

I had this same problem (caused by the wipers trying to move too much snow).
An easy fix following the tips in this thread - thanks. Just resurrecting/adding a couple of notes for any future reader, as I couldn't find any other info on the web:
Taking the wipers off is surprisingly easy: pluck off the plastic cover and use a 13mm socket to remove the nut. Done.
There are three "fir tree plugs" holding the plastic scuttle on. They will be destroyed, so you should get in 3x plugs before you start.
There are then three poppers behind the scuttle- left, middle, right. Try a side one first - it pulls out "away from the drivers seat" fairly easily and goes in easily, once you've got the knack.
Luckily for me the wiper mechanism had just popped off, so it was a fairly easy job to complete. Presumably for bigger work you'd need to remove the actual wiper motor, from the engine bay.

The fir tree plugs- do you mean the ones with the little pin through the centre? If so, they are reusable. Depress the centre pin before removing and they will lift out easily. To re-install, push the pin up so it sits proud of the head, push into place then push the pin flush to fasten. I did the whole job without needing to replace any parts.
I'm pretty sure the wiper arm nuts are 12mm, what with it being Japanese and all.
I swapped the bushes with each other as the OS bush had very little sign wear. It is possible to remove the linkage and bushes without unfastening the motor, although it does require a little force and using the wiper controls to the get the mechanism into the right spot (switch off the key so when it's in the right spot to stop it 'parking' itself).
