Yes mate get him along for sure.. we can make it a little later start time no worries. Will check the lane in the next few nights then pm you chaps cheers1066Boy wrote: I am fine with an early start Mark, just have to factor in that I have 1-1 1/2 hours to get to Maidstone 1st depending on the traffic. Just pm me the meeting point and start time and I will be there. Possibly bringing my club chairman too in his Jim if that's ok?

The lane just to the south has a padlock on it too. Not sure about to the north, it's a bit of way round but I'm guessing it's possibly closed. Real shame as these were long and exciting lanes that would have been well worth the trip but without them I would feel a bit fraudulent getting you down this way.. the other lanes I know of are a bit short and little better than just okay.
You chaps know of any open lanes anywhere else that we could try?

Sadly when a lane gets 'good' from an offroaders POV it's viewed by loacal residents and the like as an inconvenience.

Have been giving this some thought and the problem is as so - At least 2/7 of the lanes on my route are closed. It so happens that these were the long, exciting lanes that really made it worth doing. The others are ok but a bit short and, well, not as exciting (if I can put it like that). Was initially a bit dejected after seeing the closure last night because I have been wanting to share those lanes with you chaps and possibly won't now get the chance..
Fear not, though as I present options;
Option 1; There are a cluster of lanes that I have been wanting to explore (4 or 5) towards Wrotham and Vigo (little bit further north than Maidstone but may actually be more accessible for you both due to your routes (?)) Anyway, I haven't done these lanes before so can't guarantee their status in terms of being open or even decent but that's part of the fun of exploration right? This cluster of lanes would naturally take us towards the start of my originally intended route so it would therefore be possible to link them together. Sadly due to time I won't be able to visit them in advance in the same way that Allan organised our last trip.
Option 2; We lean on your collective experiences of other green lanes in the south east and plan an entirely different route somewhere
Option 3; Cuddymunts (faversham) have the last pay & play of the season 12/11 and wondering if we could meet there for a bit of real mud churning fun.
Option 4; something else?
Thoughts?
Cheers
Mark
