Servicing - what needs doing, what is commonly missed?

A quick look at the air filter shows it filthy, and while the oil is full, it's black - so time for a service.
There is a wiki for oil and plugs, which is probably basic for most of you chaps, but not for a novice like me. I don't even know which engine it has!
So for the benefit of me and any other newbies who come along - what should I do and in what order please?
Thanks in advance.

As Jack says, the main thing is make certain you can undo the filler plugs before draining any oils
Servicing otherwise is just having a poke and prod at everything to check for loose or leaking stuff. I think theres some grease nipples on the driveshafts, but unless they have been regularly used, they will be solid/wont work. You can service a jimny with a basic socket set, some spanners/screwdrivers and (usually) lots of WD40!

If you get any grief with misfire or crazy speedo stuff don't worry. Most have needed or will need a new crankcase sensor. £25 job on eBay.
Check rear boot where the jack lives for rust and rot. Look from underneath too.
Take front wheel arch liners off and check for rust below headlights too.
Easy car to tinker with. Hardest thing is getting nuts off initially. Few days of dw40 leading up to any work is the one.
All the best

Yes, what was i thinking?! Prop it is
Clutch cable is pretty easy to adjust. theres a small black cover on the driverside of the gearbox which allows access and the adjuster nut outside does the movement.

I don't know if that means it needs a new cable or there is a clutch issue on it's way. As I said before, there is no slipping, just a very long travel before it bites.
Any thoughts please?

This is not an easy task, but try to look under the dash board at the bracket where the clutch wire is connected to the pedal assy as you press down the pedal. You will see if the bracket give way from the pressure.
Worn clutch or streched wire may also be the case..

Although I am unsure as to which language "Clean out the pipework for the emission system and PCV Clean the vacuum solenoid filters" is in, as I have no idea what it means lol.
