Depends on what you are doing, i get that in town or towing or playing in the hills but being gentle on a motorway i get 40 plus.

Cheers, so if plugs and air filter don't improve it. should I check mixture/air flow meter?

At the risk of starting off another post on fuel consumption a lot will depend on how you drive and if your tyres and gearing are standard.
If you drive it like a hot hatch it will be very poor.
The Jimny is low geared so will pull a higher gear sooner than a car.
I used to change up asap and even in town you can trundle along in top on the longer stretches.
On motorways I'm very rarely above 60mph and on other roads 50mph.
You'll probably find that once serviced(if it hasn't been done recently) will help but the most effective remedy is your right foot.

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)

I bought my most recent Jimny from a vicar. I don't think he ever went over 40mph or further than 10 miles. At first it would struggle to do 160 miles on a tank- 25mpg ish. After a year of driving it hard, regularly using all the revs etc I'm now getting 210 miles to a tank- 30mpg ish. So I'd say give it a good service then drive it like you are supposed to and it will probably improve.
