I'm looking to put a G16B engine into my jimny, can anyone please tell me what's involved in the conversion? And is the liana engine better? If so what's to do in converting to that. Any help greatly appreciated.

First of all, I have not done this myself, but I have put the M16 into a jimny and I have some experience from G-series engines from SJ413.

You will need the adapter plate between engine and gearbox and either special engine mounts and bolts, or fabricate yourself.

Vitara engines are mounted in-line and will not require so much work as an engine from a front wheel drive car.
Most of all coolant connections, ingition possibly touching firewall, suction pipe and oil sump as well as electrical connections.
However more recent G16 engines (from any suzuki car) with coil on plug (after '98) will have ingition sorted, should not make problems with firewall, and electrical issues will be less as the engines are more alike the original jimny.
Most of G-engines have more or less the same engine block so you will be able to move some parts over from one to the other.

Beware that some US-produced adapter plates have been made using inches and not metric measurements making them fit badly. I have been making these adapter plates of my own (metric) design here in Norway for years but i do not think i can ship them to England at a reasonable price.
including shipment i would soon pass 100£.

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.
