I didn't know there was a model without roof rails but....Don't bother fitting the original roof rails that Suzuki put on. The ends are plastic and the rack only takes 30kg. Better to get someone to make you rails.

Original Suzuki longitudinal roof rails have proven to hold substantial cargo weight. I have Thule SquareBar steel transverse roof rails on them + Thule Ocean 200 roof box (about 20-30 kg total weight). I have transported 50 kg of cargo in the roof box (even on off road terrain) and the OEM longitudinal roof rails have not made any problems.

Regarding the transplantation, perhaps the best way would be to remove the interior roof trim and side trim around the rear side windows, and then see if any imprints for the holes in the steel body are present.

If no imprints for the holes are present, then the best option would be to obtain a pair of OEM roof rails, park your Jimny next to another Jimny which has such rails, and then measure precisely and drill the holes.

I am curious to learn about the results, so that I can add them to the BigJimny Wiki.
