Easiest way to fit 29 inch mud tyres was created by Tom Bacon
Hello everyone

What is the easiest way to fit 29 inch mud tyres? The tyre calculators I've looked at seem to think that 8 inch wide rims are needed to 235/75/R15s. There seem to be a complete lack of 8 inch wide rim with the correct PCD of 5/139.7.
Would 225/75/R16 be better with 7 inch wide rims? Is there another way to do this that I've overlooked?

All the best

Tom

235s will fit the standard wheels at a push but a j6 rim would be better. The online calculation things are really predicated on road tyres for cars. 4x4 applications are designed for a narrow wheel partly to protect the rim.

These are 225/75/16 fitted to 7" rim
Tyre side wall's don't offer much protection for the wheel rims

You will need minimum 3" lift with no trimming required ;)
I have 2"suspension and 1" body lift

I run 235/75R15's on stock rims with no issues.

I too got 235-75-15 on the original alloy rims. no problems at all, but the gearing and engine power is a whole other issue..and you will need some lift and/or cutting to clear them.
