as above, suddenly have a loss of power. Running smoothly, seems to have more of a roar from the engine but very sluggish. Any ideas much appreciated

I'm guessing there's no engine management light or codes stored?

Could be a blocked cat if so.

Had a brand new cat only 6 months ago. No engine warning light but that doesn't even light up when I start the jeep so I'm guessing that's been disabled by a previous owner. Local garage plugged it in and no codes stored.

Coils and leads. Similar thing happened to me on an 07 jimny, initially thought it was a fuel problem but got a second hand set of leads/coils from a scrappy and it sorted it.

Had a coil pack blow on me just after I bought it, replaced both coil packs, leads, plugs etc with brand new parts only 6 months ago.
Apart from the sudden lack of power the engine is running great, no misfiring or any other sign of it running rough.

Check that the brake calipers are free to slide, they can bind on which makes the difference in a Jimny.

Good call Lambert sir...my daughters you may recall seemed sluggish when she bought it...it braked fine drove fine ...but gutless and the engine roared because more power needed. Checked Cat...added cleaner....a few weeks later after a 400mile round trip the caliper on near side was goosed...
( I had told her to get the brakes tested for sticking , when she got it, but they seemed fine as the wheel seemed free said the garage.)
So it seems the slider didn't free off 100%.
She came home yesterday and got an extra 35 miles to a tank and didn't need to change down onM74 hills .

Had it checked at garage and all 4 wheels spinning freely. Has even less power today but still running smoothly. Booked in for Tuesday so hopefully garage can find the problem

Spinning the wheels is not a wholly adequate diagnosis of the caliper being stuck. It will be much more evident by dismantling the caliper as per a pad change to see for definite.

Update on my power loss, cause found to be collapsed cat which was only fitted new last September and only done 2000 miles! Anyway that turns out to be the least of my problems as 3 body mounts and sills are rotten along with corroded brake and vacuum lines.
Can you buy replacement body mounts anywhere?
Also any links to brake and vacuum lines would be appreciated.
