Pulse counting was created by mlines
So with the tyres 235/85R16 and 3.9 diffs, the speedo will need correction.

My old pulse is set up for 235/75/R15 on the 3.9 diffs.

So some maths help needed. What teeth count will I need on the pulse generator to get the correct speedo reading?

Thanks

Martin

Allegedly the 16 inch is 6.6% larger circumference or 44 revs per mile less. What is your current pluses with the 15s?

My own googling seems to show that a standard Jimny has a 25 tooth ring?

So 25 pulses per RPM.

Standard tyres are 205/70R15

According to tiresize.com/calculator/ this will rotate 767 times per mile

With 3.909 diffs, the propshaft will rotate 2,998 times, so would generate 74955.075 pulses.

So my 235/85R16 will rotate 636 times which equates to 2486.124 propshaft rotations

With rounding up its 75000/2486 = 30 approx.

I think I need a 30 tooth ring???

The above sounds about right. Alternatively the obd2 screen thing I have can be calibrated and gives you a digital readout?

Lambert, yes my obd2 reader does have a correction setting, but thought I would get the Speedo correct as well whilst building the new one

Sounds logical if you already have it in bits and you can get another one to put it right.

I think mine is 30 tooth on to suit 31" tyres (which it does pretty well based on comparisons with various sat-nav and app speedo's).

Mine (rockwatt 4.16 box) is in need of bearings at the front prop output, but tempted to do the lot when its in bits. Do you supply the bearing kits and gaskets Martin?

The bearing numbers are in the Wiki

www.bigjimny.com/mediawiki/index.php?tit...sion_to_Rock_Lobster

They are pretty common so you can choose budget or premium, I went for Premium
