Hi folks. I've noticed my Jimny misfiring recently on cold mornings and I put it down to old spark plugs as I hadn't changed them since I bought it. So I got down to the business and when removing one of the coils I noticed oil around it. Looking into the spark plug tube it had oil around the plug too. Looks like I found the cause of engine misfiring! I went ahead and changed the plugs anyway and it seems to be running ok. Am I in trouble with the oil leak? Could it be something serious? I haven't gotten the chance to check since but I'm guessing if I did check there will be fresh oil around the coil again.

The engine in my Jimny is a 1.6 from the Suzuki Liana btw.

Are we talking wet running oil or just a bit of a dark oily residue? When you undid the suspect plug did you notice it was especially easier to undo than the others?

If it's like most of these then it's a simple failure of the spark plug gasket.

Different types depending on engine, here is the G13 one, I also sell an M13 one

It's fresh engine oil Lambert, the plug was covered in it when removed. Only one plug so I'm hoping it's just the gasket.

Hopefully it's just the gasket Martin. The engine is the M16a from a suzuki liana. Probably a long shot but you wouldn't happen to stock those?

The liana 1.6 has the same spark plug gasket as the m13 jimny engine ;-)

I am confused, I have received a message and it talks about the 1.6 VVT from a swift sport? It's that you or is someone else simultaneously asking the same question for a different engine fitted in a Jimny?

I have the M13 gaskets in stock and can get the equivalent for the M16 VVT that I have just been asked about

That would be the same as well Martin

When you swap the 1.6 engine in the Jimny rocker cover gets swapped in as well. You need to use the Jimny cover as it has the oil dipstick in a different place to the 1.6 variants (because of the funny shaped oil pan on a Jimny).

If its not the spark plug gasket, it might be the rocker cover gasket. It has rubber sections where the head meets the cover. Easy thing to get misaligned.

rubber gaskets can be seen around the spark plug holes in this pic:

It's not the same, it's integral with the rocker gasket on the M16 VVT. Probably identical if you use a blade to cut them out but actually works out cheaper with the whole gasket than the individual gaskets.
