Its MOT time and last time we had a note that the tie rod ends were going to need looking at during the year.
The rod end at the steering box seems to be cold welded onto the Pitman arm and the Pitman arm seems cold welded onto the steering box. We have had the Jimny since 2007 and neither this joint or the pitman arm have ever been off.
My standard joint splitter/puller will not touch either.
Going to look at a heavier puller for the pitman arm tomorrow so that the whole lot comes off and I can get more aggressive on the work bench with the rod end.
Any ideas in the meantime that could save me some effort?

Speak to Rhino Ray about a dropped pitman arm he makes/sells
in the conversation casually ask how to remove the old arm, though I suspect its heat, big pullers and swearing required there

Thanks, I am trying to avoid heat as my garage is integral to the house and it sets the smoke alarms of easily. I will have to cut the rubber away first to help

I tried to remove the pitman arm on S200KYS to fit a Zanfi drop pitman, I snapped pullers and ran out of swear words. so eventually cut it off carefully to the splines so that it pinged off, as no amount of heat, tools and swearing was going to get it off...
So I'd concentrate on the track rod end rather than complicating things by trying to get the pitman arm off...

I have only tried to remove a pitman arm from a land rover. Unless you have something akin to one of those 10 tonne Sykes Pickavant hydraulic pullers it will offer much resistance.

Along with a bearing puller, if you can access it in situ or on a bench, lay a few lines of weld around the bulb end.
