Hi guys n gals. For the forth time in as many years my alternator belt has broken. Always in heavy rain. Any suggestions?

I would be looking at the crank drive pulley. They are a rubber bonded type and are prone to failure in the rubber causing the belts to die prematurely. If with the belts off you can move the pulley in or out it is goosed. Also while the belts are off check the rest of the rotating components are able to spin freely as it could be a bad bearing.

Happened on my daughters car and it was the pulley. Looked and felt OK but cured the fault. Make sure you get the correct size belt length wise.
