Question about breathers was created by tomlinson
Question for the Jimmy boffins.
How come Jimmy's don't come with breathers fitted and is there any disadvantage to having them fitted?
Although I'm not going through streams there are times when I have to briefly drive through water that is above the diffs and ? transmission box. Seems daft that the air inlet is so high but air can get into the mentioned areas.
Or is a brief encounter with water nothing to worry about....

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left

Jimnys do have factory fitted breathers. They are a simple design and not as reliable as ARB or the ones that Martin sells. If you sometimes drive in water at wheel arch height, either would be a good investment.

Ahh. Brill. I did not know that.
Where abouts do they go to? Somewhere in the engine bay?
Would be nice to know where they are

The gearbox has a breather hose into the engine bay, near the battery from memory (just an open ended hose).
T-box and diffs have a little spring cap thing which works fine when new, once full of crud its useless tho, hence the breather kits available.
