2016 Fuel Gauge system? was created by Gorva
Hello everyone, first post on the forums.
I own a 2016 Jimny which I bought brand new in Panama, where I live. It's counting 30.000kms as of now, and is obviously a great performer, only maintenance I had to do apart from the oil changes has been the front wheel bearings due to use and abuse (and living in an 80km stretch of land between two oceans, maybe?).
Last week I filled the Jimny with fuel as usual, and I could see the fuel in the filling tube. When I powered up the car, the indicator wouldn't show full. It never did from then on. And today, with only 300km ridden on a single tank, the fuel light went on ( I usually get about 370km without any major incidents). I pulled 4 litres of gas from the other car, and then the indicator showed almost half tank.
The system is obviously misworking. I'd like to troubleshoot it, but couldn't find any information either in the forums here or in the service manuals I have laying around.
It may be:
-An indicator failure
-A flooded floater (if it does indeed use a floater)
-Fuel tank vent failing, not allowing me to fill the tank to the brim
Any other ideas? Any idea about where to start?
Thank you very much!

Have you looked at the wires to the sender on the tank, they could be corroded?
