Hi all,

What oil are people using in their Rocklobsters?

I am currently running Fuchs Titan Hyp 90 Hypoid Gear oil GL5 80w-90 but I am led to believe I am better off with a thicker ep90 oil such as the classic oil Castrol offer?

If its EP90 then its ok, but add some grease as Dave says. It will make it a lot quieter as well ;-)

Ideally EP90 is best but 80W90 is hardly much different and won't do any harm.

Ok great, just found out Suzuki actually specify SAE90 oil in the SJ transfer box anyhow so given my current oil is just that I will definitely be fine like you say!

What API GL level does the oil have to be, GL-4 or GL-5?

API GL-5 oils must not be used in applications where "yellow metals" are present, like in gearboxes with brass syncrhonizers.

Does the Rocklobster transfer box have any yellow metals in it?

The Rocklobster has no yellow metals in so GL-5 is absolutely fine :)
