Hi my 2009 jimny's gearbox has catastrophically failed, i have been offered quotes for the older 2003 jimny.
I am hesitant as the lowrange controls in the older one are along the gearbox column and there was a refresh in 05

The ratios are also different, so you would find the gearing very high.

Manual or automatic ? If manual I know a guy who did the swap to get better ratios - you need to build new mounts. The transfer case is not a parts of this swap and you can keep using the VVT’s electric buttons.
