Following on from the thread on lift kit parts and more precisely Busta and his double front springs, has anyone put rears to the front? Yes I know that I would be lowering it, that would be the point. Thing is that yes I could level the back up to match the front but I am aiming for road handling not rock crawling. So far my research is pointing at a difference in free height of up to 60mm between the two which seems a lot, certainly more than I would like to take out of the front. What I can't find is a definitive measurement of the rear springs on each side as they are meant to address the leaning and I reckon that the 60mm I mentioned could be between old and new springs too. Can someone please point me in the right direction for a definitive answer? Cheers.

So in the back of my jimny the now are two springs of varying height to counter the lean and these I believe are factory Suzuki ones. Got a set of springs free from furo on here to try a set of front springs in the back and the rear springs in this set are of more equal size. Can have these springs if you're wanting to do some experimenting with regards to the front.

Stock Suzuki sizes (Assuming original springs with car then approx. 50,000 miles) : Front - Both 350mm
Rear - One 292mm One 278mm

Springs from furo (maybe 2000 miles max I think? Possibly aftermarket) : Front- Both 339mm
Rear - One 290mm one 294mm

Dunno how accurate the measurements really are but hopefully could give a rough idea. Just give us a shout if you're wanting those springs.

Cheers

On both the Jimny's I've changed springs, on the nsr looked to be thinner gauge wire than the osr, but lengths were very similar. I'll have a look in the back of my scrap Jimny and see if I can measure and confirm. For balance I imagine you will want both front to be the same e.g. 2x osr springs. Chopping the front springs may also be an option, and it will increase the spring rate which is likely to be an advantage given you are reducing the available travel.

Cheers all. So I'm about right with the 60mm difference. I would be wanting a pair of osr as they are the longer but it's still a lot to drop out of the front given that they're all supposedly the same poundage, I guess I could bring it back up with spacers, but.... I'm not convinced. More research on my part I think.

I've just measured 2 pairs of springs from pre-05 Jimny's and can confirm that the NS spring is 10mm wire and the OS spring is 11mm. I can't confirm lengths as both sets were removed because they were saggy and one spring was broken.

This is all making daves mystery springs sound very appealing.
