This thread is quite funny. Just to add my tuppence, One of the first things i did to my Jimny when i got it, was remove the rear damper
spacers and sling them in the corner of the shed.

It's been fettled just a tad.

Why did you do that? What was wrong with your Jimny and extended rear shocks?

Because these rear shock extenders by themselves are a waste of money

bottomed them out yet. I have spring location clamps so that keeps them in place. I have gone the extender
route to gain more axle droop. Some of the places I go its very easy to get a wheel in the air and lose traction.
I miss having a centre locking diff and a rear air locker but don't want to modify little Jim that far as its only for fun. :)

If the shocks are longer that only exacerbates the issue. Axle droop is useless if there is no pressure pushing the wheel down. You are joking about the centre locking diff bit, right?

I have had a centre locking diff and a air locker in at least one axle on most of the things I have driven off road for the last 15 years.
I was not saying fit one in a Jimny, just that it was very affective in other vehicles I have driven. ;)

Centre locking diff in an axle?

A centre locking diff is not an advantage offroading.

Locking centre diff next to the transfer box and air locker in the rear axle.
As fitted in G-Wagon, Mits Shogun, Lada Niva, Landrover Defender/Disco etc....
Or are they all wrong.

But why would you want that on a jimny? Makes no sense as there's no need for a locked centre diff on a Jimny as front and rear diffs are locked together when in 4H or 4L.

The only reason for a central diff would be so you can drive in 4wd on the road. The jimny effectively has a locked central diff already because the t-box locks the front to the rear

Yes but you can still lose traction by spinning one wheel on an axle as an open diff will tend to send
power to the easiest route or path of least resistance. A locker or LSD in the diff solves this problem.
I know the Jimny has no centre diff but other things I have owned have.

Now you're talking about two different things. A Centre diff and a diff locker. And yes of course. Any 4x4 will benefit from a diff locker.
