I need to renew the battery on my petrol 2009 Jimny. I thought it would be a simple task but, No, it clearly is not. Battery dealers do not understand the stated battery in the handbook any more than they can agree on a suitable battery. So many different numbers, codes, sizes. Can anyone help?

Have you tried Halfords? Check their listing for it. Obviously size(physically) and output are essential as is the terminal orientation. Have a look at ebay item number 361433133386. I have had batteries from ebay suppliers and they have been good value and never failed.

Got mine recently from euro carparts. It was a Bosch S4 and fits perfectly.
One thing to look out for, some people list batterys that say fit but they have the
terminals the other way round. :)

Thank you all for your advice. I have received a reply from Varta directly and, for the record, they recommend the Varta B33 battery. I've looked at this on various suppliers websites and dimensionally it appears ok. The terminals are the, 'right way round'. I've ordered one for £48 delivered from an ebay advertiser. Expected delivery Tues 15th Nov. so, I'll let you all know if there are any mishaps or problems with this battery in any way.
Cheers all.

Exide EB457 is a direct replacement for the original battery in a 2008 Jimny.
