my question is this :

what is the difference between 30/9.5/15 and 235/75/15 ???

from what i can tell its pretty much the same , price is very similar too .

they both have a 30" diameter, but i dont know what the 9.5 stands for ??

One is the Imperial (old/American) way of sizing tyres and the other is the metric.

30/9.5x15 stands for 30inch diameter, 9.5 inches width and 15 inch wheel diameter.

235/75/15 stands for 235mm width, 75% aspect ratio and 15 inch wheel diameter.

To convert the metric way backwards....

Take 75% of 235 = 176mm - this is the height of ONE sidewall of the tyre

Double it (because the tyre is round and there a TWO sidewalls in every diameter) = 352mm

Convert millimeters to inches = 352/25 (approximately) = 14.08 inches.

Add onto the 15 inches for the wheel rim = 14.08 + 15 = 29.8 inches.

So a 235/75/15 tyre is 29.8/9.4 x 15 in old money - so is all but the same tyre.
