Hey
I'm new to the forum
I've got a manual 2006 jimny vvt with a 2inch lift on 15x7 rims and 215 75 15 currently on stock gearing.
I'm wanting some slightly meatier/bigger looking tires,
but don't want to compromise to much.
Would 215 75 15 be any better??

Yeh I thought it may slow it down Abit going a bigger tyre..
I may have to have a think I don't really wanna change the gearing just to go bigger

In my opinion 235's are around 29" and you will need gear reduction
Or you may never use 5th gear.......also clutch won't last long off roading

The wider the rim relatively to the tyre the greater chance of pinching the sidewall at lower pressure off road. Also all types of tyre are designed to accommodate a certain width rim that the manufacturer is obliged to publish though some manufacturer are worse than others at making the information readily accessible. Off road tyres are specifically designed to take a narrower rim than a normal car tyre.

An 8" rim would need 245-255 wide tyre
I wanted a 5.5-6" rim but can only get 7"
This means my first trip out with new wheels and 7.50 16 tyres
I now have paint missing from my rims from rocks

Tyres are designed to fit a specific rim width. The manufacturer will specify a rim width which is the ideal size with a plus and minus size that is acceptable. Go larger and the tyre will bow in the middle and promote excess wear to the tyre edges and vice versa.
If you hunt around on the Web I am sure you will find the details for each size including suitable rim sizes.

Heavy Duty Transfer Box Brackets, 2-inch Black Raptor lift kit, caster adjusters, Rust removed and stich welded new sections. Galvanised Chassis. Body,Engine,transmission swap. Anti Rollbar Roll / Sway Bar / DAVES ARB disconnect kit.Osram Night Breaker Head light mod and white 501 led side lights.
Think utility rather than what it looks like . Your factory tyre size will take you anywhere.
