This has been many times discussed.

Just found this interesting video.

For all those that want to ride dunes and need to go over 30km/h :)

Do it your own risk and please understand that these could impact warrenties etc etc..
You have been warned. :)

We have some of the best dunes to ride here in Cape Town at Atlantis dunes 4x4 area.

Maybe an option for me to explore/test. I know I needed to go over 30 sometimes to get up dunes. Think it would be great to have traction control off in some instances.

Much better way to do that than isolating the fuse by using maintenance mode.
Pretty sure its been discussed here somewhere before.
I wouldn't do the fuse method.

Looks to a bit of a faff to enter the service mode. But it is a free option.

Does anyone know what 'service mode' actually does other disable the ESC?

I personally haven't had a situation where I needed to disable the ESC, however, 2 guys that I know have. They were touring in Botswana, and were driving across the salt pans, which have a smooth but slippery surface. The manual can drive at around 80kph in low range 5th gear. The auto can't reach that speed in low range because overdrive doesn't engage, so he was driving in high range. When the ESC kicked in he ended up doing 360's at speed which isn't much fun.
