I think there are a large number of Gen4 owners who never use the rear seats (us for example!). Therefore I think the "commercial" will appeal to the same owners in general. If you are going to buy a Jimny why spend £28,000 on a used one when a new one would be around, I think, based on the EU prices already declared, £19,000 inc VAT and you could bolt on the accessories of your own choice for a few thousand.

You can get used Jimmy's from around £22,000. l agree that the Commercial version will be ideal for many buyers.

l wonder what the U.K. allocation will be, l read somewhere that it will be 500 units per year. l hope it's more than that, or (as with the Gen 4) there will be a long wait to get one.

I heard 500 per year as well.

But I also heard, regarding this batch in Bristol Docks, is "thats it, when they are gone they are gone" which implies that there will be no flow, just a batch or two as and when. It would be nice to see how many are parked there.

Another email from WBAC today

Now offering £21,000. lt's an unusual situation. My local Land Rover specialist had a 3,000 mile 2019 SZ5 at £23,995 last month and it sold in two days.

Having just completed changing Jimny I am feeling relieved that the market remained buoyant under me, I was half expecting the bubble to burst after buying Temeraire but before I could recoup that when selling Dreadnaught.

Yes prices are strong for the previous version as well, probably due in part to the rise in Defender prices.

The Suzuki dealerships are back on the bandwagon again, they are selling 2nd hand Jimnys at inflated prices.

There's a lot of spare money about at the moment, people haven't spent anything on holidays and many have had large covid grants.

This may be contributing to the higher prices. Also many buy on PCP where the monthly payment is more important than the retail price, as they never own the vehicle.

That's always confused me, I work hard, spend less than I earn and eventually get something I need. This idea of having something I want and having to work to pay someone else back for it doesn't sit well with me. Maybe I'm just old?

Scandalous prices Foxtrot, I wonder if they are actually selling? It's amazing that dealerships can get away with selling a second hand car for more money than when it was new.

For me, it was the initial scandal of the dealers buying the cars themselves in order to be able to charge the "used" price that was the issue.

With no new cars in the system that has gone. Therefore dealers are charging the market rate plus their margin (so they will be £2000+ above market.

With the new Commercial, Suzuki are centrally vetting customers to deter the dealers doing that, all sales will be handled centrally. Dealers have to put forward their recommended customer (however that would not prevent dealers putting forward their "cousin")
