CAT theft was created by lightning
Does anyone sell a cover for the Gen 4 Jimny CAT to reduce the chances of theft?

CAT theft is off the scale at the moment.

Never seen one offered for the G3 and as the G4 is new and in low numbers I suspect it's the same story at the moment.  If I had concerns I would remove it (yes I know it illegal) and fit a de-cat pipe. But I don't myself feel it's a problem on the Jimmy, more concerned about the complete vehicle being taken.

It tends to be CATs on Hybrid vehicles, the story goes they cause less damage to the precious metals within. I assume the culprits then sell the CAT back to the poor owners of the same vehicle as OEM replacement prices are very high and after market hard to get. I can't actuall see how they make much if they "reclaim" the metal if that's the goal, you need a bent metal processors for starters.
So replacent cost must be a factor, my son's MR2 is £300 to £1000 depending if you go after market or OEM, so possibly worth stealing.
The G3 is £60 after market, so I don't believe they are going to be high on the tea leaf most wanted list.
Not sure how the G4 sits ( can you get after market?), but it's possible it will be viewed as per the outgoing model and left alone.

Anyhow, if you stop them taking your CAT they are likely to remove the doors and body panels on your Defender, another source of income for these low life's. Come to think of it, how do you sleep at night?

Get a mean dog quickly!!!!

No don't, they are stealing dogs to!

Edit:
Found this, would suit a Jimmy due to ladder frame. Not sure how it would cope with a grinder rather than a saw.

Cats on Jimmy's are so small and cheap it's probably not worth stealing them.

Spray - on-rust?

I used to live in a larger town for a few years during studies, and had a brand new bike. Scratched up the paint, wrapped tape, string and wire on it so it looked worn and repaired. Never got stolen

Hi Yakuza, I've have experience of someone doing the same as you. A chap I once worked with was into high end photography combined with "off piste" world travel, he did similar and covered his expensive camera equipment with tape / spray paint and made them look broken and battered. Exactly the same reason and he also never got mugged or equipment stolen.
Luckily my cheap CAT looks rusty, so won't worry about it being stolen or need to paint it.
