Air inlet for ventilation/heater

Does any know where the air inlet is on the Gen4 for the heating/cooling vents?

When laning and is slow traffic, with the heater set to low the air coming through the vents is warmer than the ambient air outside. But when you get going again it is a nice cool breeze. So I'm guessing it is under the bonnet somewhere and the engine heat is warming the air up, or it is ducted close to a heat source.

Wondering if it can be ducted from behind the grille, even if only for summer time?

This vent seems to align with the intake on the heater unit

I did wonder about that one, not yet had reason to remove the scuttle panel :) It must just be getting hot through the bulkhead maybe and maybe drawing hot air from the bonnet?

I guess you have tried "Re-circulate" as it may be cooler than "Fresh"? And the temp setting?
I normally use "Fresh, 30C, Fan 1-3" and now "OFF"!

You were right Martin, just tested with some tissue and it sucked it down when fan blower turned on.

Recirculate will just reuse the already warm air within the cab. My point was on low or cold the air temp should be the same as the outside. Looks like it is either dragging heat from the bonnet surface or through the bulkhead.

I find the ducting picks up heat from the firewall as well as the air flow over the bonnet, under-bonnet insulation and a fresh air cabin snorkel may be an answer.

I wonder if this would help without restricting the air flow?

is the air con on?
Climate control, you set the temperature on dial, then the in cab sensor will blow hot or cold air to a achieve the desired temperature. Should be set and forget.

No, air con not on. I know switching it on would give the desired results, but I prefer windows cracked open for fresh air. Then when you come to a stop or slow moving the air coming through the vets gets warmer.

I know what you mean, but a black one on a black Jimny might not stand out too much?
