Does anyone make a bigger Jimny tank?

I am used to a motor that can go 650 miles with a gallon left so the Jimny's 40 litre tank is a nuisance.

That was Paranoid, they came on here promising loads of stuff for the Gen4 then they disappeared. Just done a search for them on here and can't find them now.

We carried ours on the roof rack. Given how hot it got in the car (no A/C) in the Italian heat + the general heat that radiates through the Jimny shell I would say it would have been a bit dodgy having fuel in the car.

We had 10Litres just in case we were caught in a pinch. We did actually end up using it and it got us about 50-60 miles.

This is from another thread. Personally, I would be a little concerned how low it sits in order to gain the volume.

You can store up to 30 litres of petrol in a maximum of 2 suitable containers in your vehicle. For the purpose of these Regulations a ‘vehicle’ is interpreted as any type of vehicle so includes boats, aircraft and hovercraft. This type of storage counts towards the total you can store at non workplace premises. Carriage of petrol is covered by the Carriage of Dangerous Goods (CDG) and the European agreement (ADR).

I'd forgotten about these. If you want to carry extra fuel, but not in the car, and don't want to buy a roof rack just to put a Jerry Can on, how about a Rotopax fuel can mounted on the spare wheel?
A bit pricey though, cheaper than a roof rack and keeps the weight lower down.

I've been looking at the Rotopax, only concern is that they don't seem to have locking caps, so no apparent way to stop fuel being siphoned? (Yes, I live in a great area!)

But you would only have it on the back full of fuel while you are driving. If you stop off somewhere for a coffee or overnight break, you could always pop it in the foot well whilst parked up?

The standard tank on the gen.4 has a very thin steel protector cover. The distance between the cover and the tank bottom is about 20mm .With this in mind it should be possible to build a new tank from a high strength polymer that would not need a protector plate. Also the long range tank for the gen.3 appears very similar in layout, so maybe the lower main body pressings are identical in which case it may be possible to adapt the gen.3 to fit the gen.4.

Just a thought.
