I used Lanolin to protect my rig. The benefits are vast here's a list of pro's, I have found no cons, Yes seriously, its a wonder product in my eyes:

Hermetically seals the surface.

Proven to last 10 years as an anti seize grease on bolts in sea water.

Economical to use

Eco friendly.

Smells like lamberts farm yard

Is even food grade safe with some lanolin products (Prolan being one of them).

Used by militaries and farmers the world over. New zealand farmers love the stuff.

Will not jet wash off with commercial jet washers.

Dries to a semi hard resin (prolan).

Easy to apply, brush on or spray bottle or compressor, all work fine.

Use on electrical connectors, battery posts, the works, is dioelecttric, non conductive.

The Vikings used it on there ships, metal works and leather!!

Supports farmers Baaaaaaaa!!

Can be applied to light rust, eliminating the oxygen needed for corrosions progression.

Apply safely, no mess to worry about, drips in your hair and eyes, no problem.

No thick, smelly, horrible black oil to deal with. Seals for years and stays on no matter what.

One of the best natural anti corrosion products available in my eyes.

LOOK I EVEN EAT IN ON TOAST.

This is their thick pure lanolin grease. I use this on electrical connectors and battery terminals and my radious arm bolts. An amazing anti seize grease.

I used a lanolin called 'Prolan enduro heavy grade'. Bought from the withamgroup.co.uk in 5 litre quantity.

Simply one of the best products ive ever come across. So much so, i set up a FB page called the "lanolin appreciation society". Yepp im nuts!!

Thanks Andy, I like the look of this. I think I'll get a can for experimental purposes.

Having owned Land Rovers for years, l am against clagging the underside of the vehicle with black "waxoyl" or similar products
All it does is, to cover up the rust and in some cases allow it to propagate behind the coating, which can make matters worse by effectively sealing in moisture. Our last Land Rover was "Dinitrol'd" and when l inspected it after a few years, rust was propagating behind the coating and large flakes of rusty steel could be scraped off.

I would use a spray grease or product such as XCP which is clear, and doesn't harden.

l looked under our 2020 Jimny and it does seem well protected as standard, but l will empty a few tins of XCP over the body mountings and inside the chassis rails.

Panels have to be the body so that leaves the structure as the chassis.

A few links to Facebook public groups showing pictures of rust staining on relatively new cars.

. "I am reading reports that mention rust here or there but without pics. I am, by nature and experience, cautious of information that is supplied without proof . Suzuki are a reputable company and have given the Jimny a 12 year anti-perforation Warranty"

Hi Roger,
These are people's pride and joy so it's not nice to point out flaws, but photos do exist of new Jimnys with rust starting. Many have not see the first salted winter road. I've been looking at photos of G4 from launch and have seen the same sign's that I came across when I was looking for my new G3. I was shocked just how poor the rust protection was on the G3 compared to the vehicle manufacturers I was leaving behind. You need to make your own mind up, but if I was to get a new G4 it would be waxed before it turned a wheel.

Some photos from this site for those that don't do FB.

The brown stains are not wax and these are new low milage vehicles. One small area, three rust patches starting.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

I struggle to see how rust would continue to spread if it was hermetically sealed by an oil or wax. Rust needs oxgyen to progress.

However slapping a "coating" over serious rust probably wouldnt help much. Too far gone.

Ive read so much about corrotion, and many rust proofing companies benefit from blinding you with sciencen in order to make you believe it cant merely be done by the average man, and requires a booking in at there facility. But in saying that some of them seem fairly reasonable considering the time it takes to complete.

If youve got a new jimny, choose a dry warm day and slap a load of lanolin on it. No mess, no oils, no staining. Just a natural product that will seal your chassis in natural sheep oils.

My Dreadnaught has been coated from new and recoated every year since especially in high abrasion areas. She is like new underneath. I would sooner protect my investment with a coating than trust that Suzuki, who let's not forget make a profit on very cheap to buy vehicles, have done a full price rust prevention preparation in the factory. Like they haven't done to every other vehicle in their range.

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

I'm becoming tempted to doing it myself, mostly due to the lack of interest by those I've contacted for a quote. How did you raise yours to get underneath Andy?

Howdy buddy!

I put my jimmers on 6 ton axle stands, and added wheel ramps and wooden blocks just to be extra safe. I then slid under and spent the day underneth with a documentary running on my mobile. It was actauly really fun, the lanolin is lovely to work with, and is safe for eyes and ingestion.

A fully thorough job can be achieved with enough roon to get underneath.

You are doing a great job promoting Lanolin! Where do you get it? Looked on Amazon and Ebay and came up with nipple cream!
