wheel and tyre match? was created by treps
Hi, My searches on the subject of wheels and tyres for my Gen4 SZ5 have given me a headache.
So I am diving in whilst trying to be specific with my query.
I am looking at a new set of winter wheels from Jimnybits:
www.jimnybits.com/jimny-18-on/wheels-whe...lar-steel-wheel.html
and a set of Michelin Agilis Crossclimate in 215/70 R15.

Main use for these are mountain tracks in winter with wet rocks, ice and some snow.
I also use the car on roads. I would change to the standard alloy wheels and tyres in milder weather.
The Jimny is standard - no lift kit fitted.
Will this combo work? Any tyre rubbing issues? Is there a better combo?
As an aside, could these Agilis tyres be fitted on the standard OEM alloy wheels?
Any suggestions or comments welcome. And yes, I am new at this... Many thanks.

I'd be inclined towards keeping the original alloy wheels as they will take the tyres without issue. The cost of a new set of wheels will more than cover repeated changes of tyres over the life of the tyre.

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

Yes they would work. However standard fitment is 195/80R15. In the snow and ice the narrower tyre would probably perform better.

Thank you. I like your mud tyres but even I know that they would not be suitable for the mountain in the winter!
